Keep reading to find out more about the free boiler scheme, whether or not you’re likely to be eligible, and how this energy efficient replacement can help you.
What is the ECO Scheme?
To understand what the free boiler scheme is all about, you need to get familiar with the ECO scheme.
The ECO scheme is the government-backed Energy Companies Obligations scheme that obliges the largest energy suppliers in the country to help make British households more energy-efficient and help cut down their energy bills by offering free grants towards new boilers to eligible homes.
This helps decrease the cost of heating and contributes to reducing carbon emissions. If you’re qualified to benefit from the ECO scheme, you’ll receive a free boiler grant that could save you several hundred pounds on heating each year.
How does the Free Boiler Scheme Work?
Under the government’s ECO Scheme we explained above, the ‘Big Six’ energy suppliers are obliged to provide free grants towards the installation of energy-saving boilers. These include British Gas, EDF Energy, Eon, Npower, Scottish Power, and SSE.
To be an eligible candidate for the free boiler grant, your household must have a boiler that’s older than 7 years and must be in receipt of one of the qualifying benefits listed below. The scheme doesn’t support boilers less than 7 years old are excluded because they’re likely to be economically repaired.
Thanks to the way the scheme is funded, our team will handle the boiler removal, installation, and aftercare without any fees on your part. As such, you won’t have to pay anything to cover our costs during the process.
In short, you can get a brand new replacement boiler for free as long as you’re eligible.
